GPS repeater kit for L1 signals

A GPS repeater brings the outdoor signal inside your building
This repeater kit comes with all you need for a successful installation.
Each kit contains:
  • 40dB gain GPS L1 receiving antenna

  • Flexible antenna mount system
  • Coaxial cable; 10M, 20M or 30M
  • Variable-gain repeater unit
  • AC/DC power adapter

Longer feeder cable is possible with in-line amplifier or GPS-over-fibre link

GPS repeater technical data

This kit includes an L1 / GLONASS / Galileo / Beidou repeater unit with an outdoor GPS L1 receiving antenna.

The repeater unit has an effective coverage area of 35 – 40 meters diameter, when mounted at a height of 10 meters.

The repeater has a built-in antenna that radiates signal in a hemispherical-shaped pattern with a 180 degree angle of view.

Using the four moulded lugs, it can be mounted horizontally, for example on a ceiling, or vertically on a wall.

All that is required is good line-of-sight between the repeater unit and the receiving devices.

The external antenna cable connects to an SMA socket.

The repeater sends 5V DC through the coaxial cable to power the low noise amplifier (LNA) in the antenna.

If a larger area of coverage is required, additional repeaters can be added.

A single outdoor antenna can supply a signal to a number of repeaters by use of a GPS signal splitter and line amplifier.

GPS antenna

Trimble Bullet GPS antenna on a universal mount with cable guide

The antenna supplied with the L1 repeater kit is the Tallysman TW3042.

The TW3042 is an active antenna with an internal low-noise amplifier (LNA) that inserts 35dB signal gain.

The LNA boosts the received signal before it travels down the coaxial cable to the repeater input.

A 5V DC power source for the LNA is provided by the repeater through the coaxial cable.

The supplied universal mount and cable guide allows the antenna to be mounted on a vertical, horizontal or sloping surface.

See the repeater installation guide for full details.

Coaxial Cable

The cable supplied with a repeater kit is RF240 low-loss coaxial, with an overall outer diameter of 6mm.

It is pre-cut and terminated with a TNC connector to attach to the antenna and an SMA connector to connect to the repeater.

It is offered in lengths of 10m, 20m and 30m, which means that most “standard” requirements are covered.

RF240 can extend to approximately 40m without any detrimental effect on signal strength or quality.

For longer distances the cable can be upgrade to RF400, which is similar in construction to RF240 with an overall outer diameter of 10mm.

Extend distances further by using GNSS amplifiers and GPS over fibre where necessary.
